Ignacio de Posadas Montero is one of the Board Members of the firm and his wealth of experience makes him not only a seasoned legal professional, but also an outstanding professor. He is currently a lecturer in Political Sciences at the School of Law of Universidad Católica del Uruguay where he has also taught a Postgraduate Course on Taxes.

Mr. de Posadas Montero´s experience also covers positions at renowned international institutions: he served as a Governor of the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank and Fonplata between 1992 and 1995 and during the same period he also served as an IMF Alternate Governor. He was the first Governor to represent Uruguay at the “Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency” of the World Bank Group between 1993 and 1995.

His well-honed expertise comes both from international and national companies. In Uruguay, he was President of Ciba Geigy Uruguay S.A. (1987-1992) and Maltería Oriental (2000), and he has served as President of Julio César Lestido S.A. since 2000. He served as Director at Merrill Lynch, Price and at Fenner & Smith Uruguay S.A. (1979 – 1992; 1998-2009), at Montevideo Refrescos S.A. (1986 – 1992; 1995 – 2000), John Deere Latin America (1998 - present), Mosca Hnos. (1998-2000) and Devoto Hnos. S.A. (1999 – 2000).

He held the position of Director at Fundación de la Universidad Católica del Uruguay between 1987 and 1990, and also at Instituto Anglo Uruguayo between 1986 and 1997. He also headed Instituto Manuel Oribe in Uruguay between 1995 and 2000.

He currently serves as Director at the “Niños con Alas” Foundation, after being President of the institution between 1998 and 2005, and between 2009 and 2011.

Ignacio de Posadas Montero has been deeply involved in the public and political sectors of Uruguay. Between 1990 and 1994 he served as Senator of Uruguay (re-elected in 1995). He was President of the Foreign Affairs Committee, the Administrative Affairs Committee and the Constitutional Affairs and Legislation Committee. He was a member of the Special Committee for the Amendment of the Constitution, and he served as Vice President of the Senate in 1996. Between 1992 and 1995 he served as Minister of Economy and Finance of Uruguay.

Mr. Vecino is one of the Board Members of the firm and together with Mr. Ignacio de Posadas, Attorney at Law, they pioneered the transformation of the firm into a multidisciplinary organization, a completely innovative and cutting-edge approach at the time.

During his professional career he has been primarily engaged in Corporate Law, and has advised local, regional and international clients on various mergers, acquisitions, structuring processes and new investment projects.

Between 1995 and 1998 Mr. Vecino served as Director at Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Uruguaya S.A. In addition, he also held the position of Director of the Legal Services Division at Universidad de la República, Uruguay.

Mr. Vecino is currently a Board member of the Chamber of Commerce Uruguay - Brazil, as well as Vice President of the Board of the French Chamber of Commerce in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Board Member and Managing Partner of the firm, he specializes in Civil and Corporate Law. He has wide experience in mergers and acquisitions processes, some of which have entailed sophisticated legal and tax operations.

During his professional career he has counseled national and international clients on various commercial transactions such as: investment projects, company structuring, purchase and sale of companies, and capital market transactions.

Renowned international publications such as Chambers & Partners Global, Chambers & Partners Latin America and Latin Lawyer cite him as one of the most important attorneys in the country within his field. He is also recognized as a highly trustworthy professional in the fields of Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions Law.

  • EDUARDO A. FERRARI DEVOTO
  • Attorney at Law – Notary Public

Mr. Ferrari is head of the Notarial Area in the firm and has also specialized in Commercial, Corporate and Tax Law providing sound and insightful legal advice to local and international companies. Similarly, he has represented companies in public calls for bids and in new undertakings, contributing his expertise in corporate and taxation issues, both national and international. His in-depth practice includes financial transactions, loan structuring, real estate advice and notarial advice.

During his professional career he has worked at the Inter-American Development Bank, in Washington D.C. handling funding projects for Latin America. Mr. Ferrari also worked as a foreign attorney at Arnold & Porter, American law firm, at their offices in Washington D.C., where he provided counsel for global companies on Corporate and International Law.

In 2010 and 2011 he served as Controller of the Board at Nuevo Banco Comercial S.A. As an academic he was Teaching Assistant of Private Law II at Universidad de la República, Uruguay. In addition, he was also involved in the Legal English course taught at Universidad Católica del Uruguay.

International law publications such as Latin Lawyer have cited him for his experience and work in the field of Tax Law.

  • RAÚL VAIRO ERRAMOUSPE

As a specialist in Commercial and Tax Law, he has wide experience in counseling local and international clients on undertaking new ventures in the country or the region. He provides advice on financial, logistic, commercial and consultancy services, especially within the framework of the Uruguayan Free Trade Zones.

Mr. Vairo is the partner that heads the firm’s offices in Zonamérica and abroad. In this capacity he has advised various clients on the creation of administration funds, foundations, international business companies and on the formation and administration of investment funds.

Before joining Posadas, Posadas & Vecino, he was the Head of the Legal Department of the National Department for Livestock, National Products and Cattle Branding Control of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Uruguay.
