Scotland: MacRoberts celebrates double win at Scottish Legal Awards
MacRoberts has been recognised at the 17th annual Scottish Legal Awards. The firm was named Corporate & Commercial Team of the Year and Family Law Team of the Year during the ceremony, which took place on 4 November.
Hosted by KDMedia and judged by a panel of experts from across the legal industry, the Scottish Legal Awards recognise excellence in Scottish law and highlight notable achievements from across the Scottish legal sector. Following a record number of entries in the awards’ nearly two-decade history, over 250 guests watched the ceremony online with colleagues after the live event was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
These awards follow a positive year for the firm’s Corporate Finance team, which was ‘Highly Commended’ in the M&A Team of the Year (Mid-Sized Deal) category at the British Legal Awards in 2019. Despite the challenges and economic uncertainty posed by the pandemic, the team has continued to work with clients to progress deals, and recently advised Together Energy, one of the UK’s most ethically-aware energy firms, on a number of deals including its acquisition of Bristol Energy’s customer base.
The firm’s Family team has also gone from strength to strength this year. In response to the pandemic, the team has worked tirelessly with clients, embracing new technologies and adopting innovative ways of working, including conducting a number of successful mediations remotely. The team is led by Jacqueline Stroud and Marika Franceschi, who have both recently been ranked in the independent legal directories, Legal 500 and Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession.
The firm’s Managing Partner, Neil Kennedy, said:
“Being recognised at these awards which celebrate the very best of the Scottish legal profession, and particularly in this challenging climate, is a fantastic achievement for the firm. The Corporate and Family teams continue to impress with their achievements, and this recognition is testament to the tireless work of both teams.”
