BSJP has advised Saab AB on the signing of a contract for the delivery of live training systems and services to the Polish Armed Forces. The total order value is approximately 1 billion SEK and comprises the supply of a complete live training solution for a reinforced mechanised battalion and four training centres for company size units. The contract period is 2021 to 2026 including support over a period of three years.

On behalf of BSJP, the project was coordinated by Dag Nilsson (Partner, Head of M&A and BSJP Nordic) and Aleksandra Chojnowska (Senior Associate).

The order will ensure that the Polish Armed Forces are equipped with innovative, flexible training solutions and the required training capability. This will enable the Polish Army to train as close to reality as possible, domestically as well as at the point-of-need in international collaborations. The solution includes capabilities such as Saab’s latest exercise control (EXCON) and communication systems, as well as the latest generation hi-fidelity simulators for soldiers, weapons and vehicles. The support component comprises deployable, integrated logistics and operational support to the Polish Armed Forces.

The contract comes as the largest such deal ever made between Sweden and Poland. The agreement has been signed at the International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO in Kielce, one of the largest defence and security trade shows in Europe. At the signing, Polish Minister of Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak, has emphasized the importance of this contract as a breakthrough in the training of the skills of Polish soldiers, as well as soldiers of allied armies.

BSJP's team provided comprehensive legal services to Saab AB regarding negotiation of the transactional documents, transaction closing and post-closing activities, as well as extensive support at the earlier stages of the project.
