Australia: Colin Biggers & Paisley further builds its transport and logistics team
Stephen Thompson, previously of K&L Gates (formerly Middletons), has joined Colin Biggers & Paisley as a partner. Stephen has a long-standing reputation as a leading transport and logistics lawyer. He and special counsel Richard Arrage will further enhance the growing reputation of Colin Biggers & Paisley as a "one stop shop" for transport and logistics.
Stephen and Richard will work alongside partner and CMI President Stuart Hetherington in Sydney, and with partners Andrew Tulloch and Andrew Probert in Melbourne.
Andrew Tulloch, head of the transport and logistics team, is excited by the significant enhancement of the legal practice's commercial transport expertise and sees great opportunities through the addition of Stephen and Richard to the team.
"Stephen has top notch skills and a great client following", Andrew said. "The additional expertise brought to the group by Stephen and Richard in shipping and in relation to the offshore energy sector enables us to broaden our service offering and adds to our already considerable practice in shipping, marine and aviation insurance, road and rail so that we have the transport and logistics sector well covered."
Explaining the reason for their move, Stephen Thompson said: "Colin Biggers & Paisley's transport and logistics law practice includes some of the most well-regarded practitioners in Australia. Richard and I are delighted to be joining them and contributing to what is already a formidable team, offering full service legal solutions to our clients in the maritime, logistics and off-shore support industries.
We are equally excited about joining Colin Biggers & Paisley – a legal practice which is long-standing but progressive, well-resourced but agile, and managed in accordance with clearly and publicly articulated vision, values and strategy."
In addition to Stephen and Richard's appointments, Colin Biggers & Paisley has also recently appointed property and development partner, Rebecca Castley and restructuring and insolvency partner, Damien Butler, as well as corporate and commercial special counsel, Carlos Gouveia.
