Laurence Jacques, partner at VANDENBULKE, entrusted with the liquidation of the financial assets of Espirito Santo Financial Group S.A. and ESFIL-Espirito Santo Financière S.A.

In October 2014, Laurence Jacques, partner at VANDENBULKE, was appointed as receiver for the insolvency of the publicly listed holding of the Espirito Santo financial conglomerate: Espirito Santo Financial Group S.A. and ESFIL-Espirito Santo Financière S.A. Espirito Santo Financial Group S.A. is the major shareholder of the second biggest Portuguese bank Banco Espirito Santo, which was bailed out in August 2014 further to discovery of misstatements of accounts in a top holding company of the group. Together with VANDENBULKE, Laurence is now proceeding to an orderly liquidation and sale of assets of these two top holding companies forming the financial and banking arm of the Portuguese financial conglomerate Espirito Santo.

VANDENBULKE advises PolyOne Corporation’s global restructuring after the USD 393,000,000 merger with Spartech.

PolyOne Corporation is a global leader offering a comprehensive array of specialized polymer materials, tailored services and end-to-end solutions, with operations in North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. VANDENBULKE’s role consisted in a global restructuring of the client worldwide group in order to merge the recently acquired Spartech entities in the client group together with the PolyOne entities.

The matter was particularly complex in involving a large number of cross-border mergers in several countries and continents which were guided by Luxembourg, place of the group top holding company (US, Netherland, Spain, Luxembourg, Mexico).
