South Australian law firm Norman Waterhouse has strengthened its accomplished Family Law team with the appointment of experienced practitioner Stuart Barr.

Stuart joins the firm as Special Counsel in the Family Law division after more than 20 years experience in legal positions throughout Australia, including running a successful Adelaide practice for the last seven years.

Prior to operating his own practice, Stuart headed up the family law divisions of commercial law firms in Melbourne and Darwin. He is an accredited family law specialist, has more than 15 years experience as a mediator, is a Commonwealth registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner and is also a trained collaborative law practitioner.
“The experience and quality of Norman Waterhouse’s Family Law team was the key reason behind making the move to the firm,” Stuart said.

“To be part of such a highly experienced and capable team is very exciting and I look forward to helping clients achieve the best outcome for their situation.”

Head of Norman Waterhouse’s family law division, Jill Miller, said Stuart’s extensive experience would make him a great addition to the family law section and the firm.

“Having worked in the public and private sectors, in larger commercial firms and smaller practices, as well as operating his own business means Stuart brings a unique perspective to any issue. He is an extremely valuable addition to our team,” Jill said.

“His diversity of experience enables him to look at a problem from many points of view and come up with a solution that’s best for the client.”

Stuart holds qualifications in law from the University of Adelaide and a MBA.
