Recently, the elections of the new board of directors for the 2016-2017 term of the Panamanian Maritime Law Association (APADEMAR), a nonprofit association gathering inter alia, legal professionals practicing in the field of maritime law took place, in which our Partner, Belisario Porras, was re-elected as President, as well as the other members of the past board.

In his speech, Mr. Porras reiterated the position of the Board of Directors to represent the interests of the maritime industry both generally and that of their individuals. He reiterates the support to the Panamanian Maritime Authority in its process of competitiveness of the merchant marine. He also urged maritime authorities to maintain strong communication with the association.

Mr. Porras, also made a call to promote the exchange of ideas to create new incentives and opportunities, explore new markets, implement effective marketing actions, amend errors and specially to keep improving the service constantly in matters of registration, technical and seafarers as to ensure that Panama´s position is maintained as the leading global registration flag in number of vessels and tonnage vis a vis our competitors.
