Clients of one of the leading banks in Hungary entered into interest rate swap agreements before the 2008 crisis. Due to the drastic increase of the CHF/HUF exchange rate, some clients suffered significant losses. Several clients brought action against the bank stating that these agreements are invalid and further claiming damages. The Curia delivered its first judgement in relation to these claims. The Curia stated that the contracts are valid, and the bank, represented by Gárdos Füredi Mosonyi Tomori, properly informed its clients before the conclusion of the contract.
